Kardashians // LaChapelle Christmas

So this may perhaps be the biggest waste of money I've seen in a long time but the Kardashians had their 'Christmas card' shot by David LaChapelle. Now if you think anything like I do you'll agree this is the stupidest idea ever, not the art of it just the fact its shot for a Christmas cad but I guess if you're a Kardashian you've got to do it bigger than anyone?

Personally I love the idea of it all, it's just a shame the massively expensive 250k photo is only to add to the ego fest which is the Kardashian franchise. Although the whole thing is a massively annoying stunt in my eyes you have to admire LaChapelle and his work.

Perhaps it's just me being synical and hating everything or as I'd say being me, I just think it's a massively annoying expensive waste and just an ego trip of what I think of as America's most annoying family. Although it is interesting to see David LaChapelle working with them, buy that could just be for promotion and money honestly if you were given the chance you wouldn't say no. But what worries my the most is do people actually like this and these people?!

Jack Codling // HOME IS WHERE THE HEART ISN'T

It rarely happens that I see something and stop because of how it affects me but I have to draw your eyes to this set of photographs taken by Jack Codling! The collection of images cleverly named "HOME IS WHERE THE HEART ISN'T" are visually stunning.

I first caught glipse of these images by someone sharing them on Facebook but looking at them I am completely in aw of how clever they are, everything here is on point. The theme, the styling and obviously colour are amazing each photo bringing me something amazingly interesting and what I'd have to refer to as a brilliant narrative.

I love how each one is like a glimpse into a different life of very different people and also how these women just demand attention. I know this isn't probably a post I'd usually do but I wanted to be able to draw attention to the beauty and intelligence I see here! I rarely use the word inspiring and for good reason but I have to say these images are definitely inspiring, I can't describe how powerful and wonderful they are!

If you want to check out more of Jack's work you can view it // here // and also follow his work on his Facebook page // here //. I can't wait to see what else he produces and what other brilliant photographs he takes!

Bailey's Stardust // Exhibition Coming

Opening the 6th February 2014 a new exhibition opens which will feature over 250 pieces of David Bailey's work will be on show at the National Portrait Gallery. Being such a massive name as Bailey, with so much work and experience stretching across 55 years next year it's definitely an exhibition for all to see.

Definitely something to add to your diary and to watch out for, I mean look at David Bailey's work its phenominal. I think one of the reasons I look up to Bailey and see him as such a respected name is because I generally don't like work of a similar style. Bailey to me really delivers something that's very atmospheric and beautiful whilst still remaining modern at the same time. Take the image of Jean Shrimpton from above it looks as if it's been pulled from a current magazine yet here is an image from the 1960's.

David Bailey is definitely someone who deserves such a massive exhibition in his name especially to show off his legacy, hopefully I'll be able to tell you more about the exhibition once it's open and I'll most definitely be attending!

Uni//White Photoshoot

Because of everything going on I've not had time to try and upload any of my uni work, I just wanted to post these few images finally. We used most of the images in our magazines but I'm so happy with how they came out, they really capture everything I wanted to get. I think they're definitely some of my favourite images I've ever taken and really are of the whole magazine.

Blumenfeld Studio//Somerset House

So Thursday I went to see the Blumenfeld Studio exhibition at Somerset House, seeing other exhibitions there I knew there would some really nice strong imagery. I really enjoyed seeing the exhibition, Blumenfeld has had such a strong and diverse career and his work is something really special.

What I love about Blumenfeld's work is just how he plays with imagery, colour and distortion. He's someone I'd have to consider an inspiration and he's shot so many of my favourite covershots. Including the picture above for Vogue US from March 1945, which is probably one of my favourite photographs of all time!

What I loved about the exhibition was how it show how Blumenfeld's work really developed, his work to me really stands out as photographs which are timeless, if I saw them today I'd still think they worked and were still as beautiful. There are so many elements of his work I love, especially how he works with layering images and the colours of images. He really has a special way of working with textures and light which stand out to me too.

After seeing the exhibition I really do realise how much of an inspiration Blumenfeld is, his work is so beautiful and so classic. The exhibition is totally worth a visit, especially since it shows the final images but also other unseen images from the same shoots. The exhibition really highlights how strong a career he had and how great a collection of imagery he built up over his career
