GFW//Day Three Pt. 1

So we've come to the penultimate day of GFW and it's been possibly my favourite of all the days so far! I've seen a lot of the shows today and there has been some amazing stuff going down the catwalks today.

I've managed to see:
-Bath Spa and Northampton
-Birmingham City
-Manchester School of Art
- Salford
-Kingston

So the Bath/Northampton shows was a total delight! There was so much interesting work the main looks that really popped for me were Hannah Lloyd-Jones of Bath with her collection really playing with silhouettes and a mix of colour and transparent plastics, deffinitely something interesting.

From Northampton various wonders walked the catwalk including Jodie Payne's beaded wonders which must have taken her hours, her green collection sparkled as it headed down the runway. I really loved how much her collection worked together as a whole, the same idea in various forms was really pleasant. Also massive shout out to Elijah Blane Kinne, these crazy boots were something else! Not only being the only footwear student being shown on a catwalk they delivered something really eclectic yet futuristic. Totally worth checking out!

Two more shout outs have to go to Charlotte Eastwood her black and blue fur's were something to die for, quite literally. Mia Felce also brought us coloured plastics which were just a dream to watch.

//Birmingham City//
Next to be seen was Birmingham City, which if I'm really honest was such a good show and full of talent. It really stood out and they showed just exactly what a graduate fashion show needs to be and possibly more.

Centre - Olga Kaluba
Bottom - Hannah Adams

Here are my main picks from the Birmingham City, starting out with Victoria Renzo what I loved about her collection was the mix of colours with pinks, purples, greens, blues and oranges all making an appearance. Normally I'd hate all of this and say it was too much but it was perfect! It just worked so well together and those head scarves give it almost grannt chic vibes. Olga Kaluba blew me away with her what I can only describe as psychedelic/kaleidoscope patterns, but they were amazing. Having them styled with the coats and wellies it was perfect!

Hannah Adams started the show with a bang and come on look at her floral morphsuits what more could you want? Well pretty much everything she delivered, pairing them with transparent trousers and blue male playsuits it was something really stand out and special really ticking all the boxes for me. Weird and wonderful yet so genuis at the same time.

Mentions also go out to Amy Miles, Natalie Wilkins and Ajmal Khan. Amy Miles managed to bring in yellow and black menswear and shed light on such a difficult and ignored colour! Natalie Wilkins gave me everything in terms of shape and silhouettes especially with her translucent curves, circles and cut outs. Ajmal Khan also brought us bright menswear just in time for summer and really showed how men can utilise something so simple and make it so effective.

Both of these shows today had such a strong calibur of talent in them and personally I feel like this followed in the shows later. All of the graduates really took their collections to another level and their work spoke wonders for them, I'm really starting to see such a strong pool of talent from everybody.
